For the first time, I have a word for the year. Actually I have three. It wasn’t a premeditated decision to do this. They just sort of surfaced.
Surrender, breathe and simplify.
So far having these as intentional words for the year has been an inspiring and centering reminder of what I’m working on.
Surrender came through last year when I went through some challenging experiences that called me to surrender at a whole other level. Surrendering and trusting at a new level was deeply transformative and healing. Since then I’ve noticed less anxiety and stress and more inner peace.
This is something I would like to deepen this year, to remind myself to surrender when it’s being called for.
Breathe, because when I remember to breathe deeply and focus on my breath, it has also been very healing. This is something I forget to do so I would like to have a reminder to make it a practice. Having this as one of my words is reminding me that this is something I want to work on and be consistent with.
Simplify, because my life this year is getting more full with good and new things and it’s clear that the only way to do them well is to find other ways to simplify my life. I’ve already simplified my belongings quite a bit, having recently moved to a much smaller place. This new level of simplification that I am focusing on is more about how I spend my time and putting new systems into place.
